Tides of Time explores the worlds of Dorothea Herbert and Michael Coady through recreated spaces, personal stories and poetic reflections. This is a reconstruction of the author’s original working room, which has been carefully relocated and reassembled, offering a rare and intimate connection to one of Ireland’s most important literary voices.
Meet and speak to Dorothea Herbert, one of Tipperary’s forgotten nineteenth-century writers, whose voice is reimagined through innovative interactive technology.

When Michael Coady wrote Heritage and Hope in 1982, he imagined St. Nicholas’ Church transformed into a living cultural space — a place of memory, creativity, research, storytelling and community connection. He believed the site could become “the informed setting for a dynamic present and a confident future.”
Today, that vision lives on through the Tides of Time Experience.
The restored church now welcomes visitors into an immersive journey through the people, stories and spirit of Carrick-on-Suir. What began as a hopeful appeal for restoration has evolved into a vibrant heritage destination that honours the town’s past while creating new opportunities for culture, tourism, education and community life.
